Time To Decide
05:43
|
|||
¬¬Turn your head
The direction from which you just came
As fingers search the mountain
For a crack to bear my weight
Turn back to the mountain
Protruding like a snail
Your curious tongue slides
slides along the stone
and there it lingers
and by slow diffusion,
the minerals find home in your
muscles and your brain
It’s time to decide
It’s time to decide
What are you willing to find
It’s time to decide
You’ve been told
You could throw your pack
and crawl back down
and blame it on the weather
in the morning try again
But as you crest the mountain,
the cordillera fills your sight
You goatily continue
Blood of your tongue,
fills your mouth quick as a great idea
Comes rushing forth past doubts
as a virile unshaped thing
You can’t contain the rush
colors every thought you think
Won’t go back the same way
this is a jump that we can make
It’s time to decide
What are you willing to try
And what are you willing to find
It’s time to decide
What are you willing to try
What are you wiling to find
And willing to leave behind
It’s time to decide
Living wind with no resistance
Take me to the new forgiveness
All the way past supernova
Cause I’m not coming back
breathe deep
Cause I’m not coming back
I’m at peace with the fact, that I can’t turn back
I’m in love with the fact, that I can’t turn back

Apollo
03:21
|
|||
Reach into the middle of my back
Grab me right around the center of my spine
And twist it like an auger
Crank until I feel better
And shake the pains right from my life
Just as a snake, can shed its skin
Alfajores blossom on the hill
Up here Apollo, makes you his bitch
Fills you up with songs and perfect images
Where the clouds swoop down just to replenish your breath
As the mountains bow to leave you with a kiss
I caught a whiff of the noble stench of death
And I couldn’t, couldn’t help but laugh
If he’s got me on his list
And my name upon his lips
Then I guess I’m more than fine with it
But I’m really happy with
The way I’ve just started to live
So I hope, I hope he’ll grant a pass
But since I’ve gotta make a will
I’ll be sure to write you in
But I’m leaving my soul to Argentina
Where the clouds swoop down just to replenish your breath
As the mountains bow to leave you with a kiss
Up here Apollo, makes you his bitch
Fills you up with songs and perfect images
Where the endless fields of salt, to which your soul is called
At first you don’t know why
Until you close your eyes
And there inside you find
The salt preserves the love inside your heart

Bus Broke Down
04:41
|
|||
The bus broke down thirty miles from town
The windows fogged but no one got out
The driver swore a spell into the radio
That they better get to us before the witching hour
The hours passed but no help showed
Pacing toes, wore holes through my soles
A game of telephone spread the news
That the tábano outside were the ghost of Perón
The intercom crackles overhead
I couldn’t understand a word the driver said
foreign tongues buzz around my ears
But you don’t need to know the language
To understand a disappointed sigh
The patience on the bus, started to go
They’d seized all our food at the border patrol
And I could see the town but it couldn’t see us
Or there’s something it didn’t trust about helping our bus
I grabbed my bag, made my way outside
My heart filled up but it wasn’t with love
And the horseflies, as big as my eyes
Puppeteering my hands as I cut toward the lights
In not too long, I’m broken to find
The lights I saw are the back of the bus
Somehow I’d circled and come back round
But you didn’t even need to be there
To hear out loud my disappointed sigh
Oh, the disappointment when the shortcut doesn’t work
And you find yourself the farthest one behind
Got back on the bus, was handed a cup
The driver said, that we had to stay up
I got nervous, choked my coffee down
And the old woman next to me read the grounds
She zipped my lips with her furrowed brow
I’d really like to talk, but I can’t right now
I’d really like to talk, but I can’t right now
The women in the back are staring to crown
Something shook the sky and the stars fell out to the ground
I’d really like to talk but I can’t right now
The bus broke down, thirty miles from town
Said they sent help but I’m starting to doubt
It’s going to get to us before the witching hour
I’d really like to talk but I can’t right now
I’d really like to talk but I can’t right now
I’d really like to talk but I can’t right now
I’d really like to talk but I can’t right now

The Voladora
05:34
|
|||
I did what you asked,
stood naked
In front
of a copper bowl
Coughed up my intestines
And placed them inside
And now I’m light enough to fly
And now I’m light enough to fly home
My hollowed out body
I quickly proceed,
to coat completely in honey
ensure it won’t rot
as I scream over towns
destroying the setting
at a pitch that shatters men’s souls
and spend 40 nights, 40 days
in the pull of the coldest cascade
where it will strip a baptism’s hold
and wash off, the shackles of god
kill your best friend to
prove your commitment
and sew the flayed skin
of a disinterred Christian
inside the waist of your coat
where its soft phosphorescence
will light your way at night
walk through the woods
into towns
where children intone on their breath
mother please hold my hand
and tell me the screams don’t exist
well I’ve got news for you kid
she won’t tell you that my language isn’t alive
make my way home, back to my bowl
with a deep breath, I swallow my pith
and forget
what I’ve done

Water
02:47
|
|||
I was told this flow would be here
At some point be my only path
But I just kept not thinking of
How to get across
This river won’t save me
And wash away my sins
But if I bend and work with it
A safe path can be cut
I’m not sure exactly where the water’s
Going to pull my weary legs
But I’m sure whatever way it’s going
Is the way I need to take
At times we get discouraged
As the heat’s pulled from our toes
But we’ll be saved, by giving up,
and ceding some control
I’m not sure exactly how the water
Pulls the pain out of my legs
My ears can’t hear the tone at which
It tells me to come along
I’m not sure exactly where the water’s
Going to pull my weary legs
But I’m sure whatever way it’s going
Is the way I need to take
It might take me the long way
It might take me through danger
It might take me, all the way to Egypt
via Bariloche
I’m not sure exactly what the water
Needs to show my wretched soul
But I’m sure whatever way it’s goin’s
the way I need to grow
Where ever it may lead us
Who ever it may take
I don’t want to
Be the only reason
You’re not saved

A Million Pieces
03:31
|
|||
Sit with me a little while
We’ll open up a little wine
Grace me with a little smile
And slide your little hand in mine
We’ll take the gondola for a ride
Reach the top and sigh a little sigh
Yeah, check your laces one more time
And bind your troubles up with mine, it’s time!
With a heave and a ho, we let our troubles go
Kick them right off the mountain
Hands cupped around our ears, we can’t see but we can hear
That sound of sweet relief as they smash into a million pieces
A million pieces!
Build yourself a little fire
Throw your bad thoughts on the pyre
Pull that thorn out from your side
And throw away your little lies, it’s time!
With a heave and a ho, we let our troubles go
Kick them right off the mountain
Hands cupped around our ears, we can’t see but we can hear
That sound of sweet relief as they smash into a million pieces
A million pieces!
Come and sleep here by my side
Mix your dreams right up with mine
Yeah, won’t you join me for the ride?
And open up your little life, it’s time!
Yeah! With a heave and a ho, we let our troubles go
Kick them right off the mountain
Hands cupped ‘round our ears, we can’t see but we can hear
That sound of sweet relief as they smash into a million pieces
A million pieces!
A million pieces!
A million pieces

Cobalt Bomb
04:51
|
|||
Escape from war,
the first thing you do
is fly to the end of the world
Where the road runs out you
plan a cabin
safe from the cobalt bomb
Axe in your grip
bounces with every hit
shaking the muscle from the bone
Sweet phloem
strips from the poles
We’ll sleep in the tent until we’re done
Wake up in the dark
In the middle of the day
Buried in forty feet of snow
Spring comes later
in the afternoon
Keep things moving right along
We’re working on a place straight from our hearts
The safest place to be outside our hearts
The safest place for love outside our hearts
Oh baby won’t you help me make it true?
Birds bring the mornin
From the rafters
Aeries in burlap built for heat
We cake the walls
And fortify with lime
To keep out an avalanche surprise
And once the shingles
of mountain slate
are nailed into place, we’re free to take a break
And drink from gourds
Through straws of silver
Carved like the columns of Rome
Mica windows
Bathe the room in gold
Through venetian blinds of ivory bone
And paintings line the walls
With tales of our trip
Volcanic ash for black, and blood for burnt sienna
We’re workin on a place straight from our hearts (baby will you lead the way?)
The safest place to be outside our hearts (baby won’t you lead the way?)
The safest place to go outside our hearts (baby won’t you lead the way?)
Oh baby won’t you help me make it true?
Oh baby make my dreams come true
